The Love That May Never Be Matched
As I bow my head with these feelings that arise,
The rush builds up behind my eyes
Looking down,
You knelt on the ground
Tilting your head up,
Our eyes met, and your voice began to speed up
You talked of this girl,
Whom you never thought you’d meet
And then you did and never thought you’d be able to keep
You thought you’d start by getting her water,
And thought, oh I'd really love to date his daughter.
Things progressed and went on a date to a park by a lake.
Oh, but being with her was more than his heart could take.
She thought he was better than icing on a cake.
As they strolled through the park on that warm day,
He realized he wasn’t going to let that hand get away.
So, he reached out and grabbed her hand
And she said he should stay as long as he can.
They made their way to a wooden bench
And sat for a while looking at the lake
And as they did, he looked over her way,
And in that moment her heart began to give way
He looked deep into her eyes with his mesmerizing color
One like no other
She looked into them only for a moment,
For she knew her heart- he’d own it.
He said there was so much more he could recall-
But that could take until nightfall
And so this story told by he,
Would one day make history.
He said never again, look away from my love
For ill gaze upon you like the Lord does from above
You’re perfect in every way, and just right for me,
And this is why I assuredly get on one knee
To ask you for your hand once more-
It is you I love and adore, and because of this,
Will you be mine forever more?
